Dear Mr. Maslovski,
Thank you for that information, which was inaccurate but close enough
for the necessary adjustments to be made. The items in Spanish are the
equivalent of Edit, Preferences and Language; there is sufficient
difference between 'Preferences' and 'Configure' for confusion or a lack
of clarity to arise.
The question why this situation arose remains unanswered. I
absolutely agree that it is sensible and useful for the proffered
language at the time of installation to be that of the operating
system, so Spanish if I prepare to install under Windows XP in Spanish,
but, if I alter that language to another on the list from which selection
is available, I have a reasonable expectation that that selection will
be applied to all further actions during the installation, not to just
one component thereof. This deficiency of design must be remedied for
the next release of Maxima.
