wxMaxima 0.8.3 and maxima 5.19.2 "Waiting for connection"???

Hi Everyone,

I build maxima 5.19.2 from source and installed it in /usr/local/bin 
(Ubuntu 9.10).  It works fine from the terminal, but wxMaxima doesn't 
connect to it.  I can get wxMaxima to connect to the old version 5.17.x 
in /usr/bin just fine, but would like to use the newer version of 
maxima.  Is there a good way to debug this?
