Did you compile wxmaxima yourself? I would expect that wxmaxima 0.8.3
does not work with maxima 5.17 and does work with 5.19. You are
claiming the opposite. If you are using a precompiled binary then
maybe it includes a patch so that it works with 5.17 which breaks
compatibility with 5.19.
