I've noticed that the calculational part of Gnuplot sometimes produces
results with spurious small imaginary parts like this, which results
in the plotting part of Gnuplot silently refusing to plot them. Worth
bearing in mind in cases where Maxima hands off numerical results to
Gnuplot for plotting.
