Greetings! Just a heads up to this list that preliminary steps toward
ansi lisp compilance are being checked into gcl now. To get the old,
CLtL1 traditional gcl image, configure with --disable-ansi. Both with
and without the new support, stable and cvs maxima seem to work just
fine.
Also, GCL CVS has new bfd support which is bringing gcl load/save
functionality, and maxima, to more Debian architectures. PPC
gcl/maxima is now very robust, with arm and m68k close behind. I have
a puzzling issue on Debian sparc, though the solaris build seems to
work. 64bit is forthcoming -- I've found an old bsd patch for gcl on
the alpha. In sum, could be in the near future that gcl/maxima will
be available on 11 different architectures! (We hope).
Take care,
