Yes. Is it possible to make configure check for
particular texi2html version and issue appropriate
error message instead of obscure failure in the
last stage of "make install" ?

This is post 5.9.2 IMHO. Frankly I thought that es/pt will be
incorporated into next release not into 5.9.2 (but I don't mind).
We need optional language build/installation. Make describe
and xmaxima understand locale etc.
