solve not to expand quadratic equations

Hi there,

Is there a way to prevent maxima from expanding the solutions of a  
quadratic equation when using solve? I.e. I want to have the solution  
in the form of

a*x^2 + b*x +c = 0

rather than

x=-b ? sqrt(...)

Axiom has solve() and radicalSolve() for that purpose.
