Well, one step at a time. I think the present work on pi and e
is worth keeping because (1) it is documented much more
extensively than the previous code, and (2) it is substantially
faster. Maybe you don't need 1000000 digits of pi, but I see no
reason to rule it out, if someone is willing to do the work.

Bigfloat Bessel functions and others would certainly be interesting.
