Subject: maxima won't start on Mac: neither prebuilt bin nor fink

Hi all,
I get exactly the same error whether I start the pre-built binary (from
wxMaxima-0.8.5-Maxima-5.21.1.dmg ) or the fink version, which my system OS
X 10.6.4 builds from a source.
Any idea what's wrong?
