Robert:
When I went to the sourceforge site looking for maxima, I clicked on the
Download link ,which took me to the Download page. From there, I then
clicked on the link to take me to the git page. On the git page, I
noticed a tab marked git, so I clicked on that and it took me to a page
with a git tools dialog with two entries: "Code" and "Site Xml" so I
clicked on "Code" and that opened up the tree with a banner of "Tree

master /" and in the "Read Only access" textbox was what I thought was
the command to retrieve the source. I thought, "How nice, I don't have
to remember what the git incantation should be." So I used that and got
what I mentioned in my last post.
Thanks for the tip on trying master. I'll rebuild it using that and see
what I get.
Thanks,
