Jan, there is a hidden directory named ".maxima" in
my home directory, I created filemaxima-init.mac in it.
It has two lines:
gnuplot_command:
"/Applications/Gnuplot.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gnuplot"$
set_plot_option([gnuplot_term, x11])$
It seems that whenever I invoke maxima, XQuartz (serves as X11)
will launch too.
