My intention was to separate the gcl source from the maxima debian
package. Right now, the Debian maxima package does a gcl subbuild.
This is not a critical task, and could wait until maxima is ready for
its next release. I don't have time right now to put the energy into
a major re-work of the package which I think 5.9 will require, so if
there is no quick fix to 5.6, I should defer this job until 5.9
becomes stable.
By the way, is there any *bug fix only* tree being maintained
somewhere, apart from the *new features/development* main cvs tree?
Will this distinction be made in the future? It might well be too
much effort.
